Classroom Lessons

In the classroom lessons, a variety of demonstrations and videos show new drivers road rules and regulations, road safety, and how to operate and maintain a car. At the end of each classroom session is a 10-question multiple-choice test to ensure that the students have learned the rules of the road. The textbooks used in the course are “Road Worthy” and “Drivers Handbook”.

As of November 6th 2004, In-class and In-car sessions must be completed within one year from the date of enrolment. If student is unable to complete the In-class and In-car sessions within the one-year time period the student must then re-enroll as a new student.

Benefits of In-Class Learning

There are many things a new driver should be taught which can be explained very well to groups of students in a classroom rather than individually. The cost to the student is much less when one teacher can deal with a group of students at one time, rather than with only one student. A few hours class instructions is much cheaper than a few hours of in-the-car instruction.

Attending class instructions generally reduces the number of in-the-car lessons needed. The teacher does not have to spend in-the-car lesson time explaining things that could have been taught very well in class.

Attending class instruction also saves in-the-car lesson time, because the student may LEARN FASTER due to the instructional groundwork that has been done in the classroom. The classroom films and VISAL AIDS are designed to REDUCE LEARNERING TIME.

Classroom Attendance

Classes are held on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, Winter Special Sunday courses are also available. During a session there is a 15-minute break in between. For every session, there is a brochure, which corresponds to it and gives a better idea of the timings and schedule.

The classroom lessons are twice a week and there are eight sessions in total. This means that even if you miss a session, you could make up the session within a month as the classroom course takes only a month to complete. During this time, in car lessons are normally taken simultaneously in order to finish the course efficiently and quickly. 100% attendance is mandatory in order to successful complete the in-class sessions.

In Car Lessons

The 10 hours of in car instruction are divided into 13 driving lessons. The first lesson is one hour and the rest are forty-five minutes of driving, in which everything including starting the car, driving along, driving through intersections and railway crossings, left and right turns, three-point turns, parallel parking, incline parking, and driving in adverse conditions is taught. The cars are of the latest models and are all safety-inspected and continually maintained.
